Rest in Peace, David Bowie

I drew this picture of David Bowie in May 1994, around a month after Kurt Cobain killed himself.  I was a very depressed 9th grader, and while I was never actually suicidal, I'd already been idealizing suicide for months before Cobain killed himself, and I was devastated by his death.  That year my favorite album became Bowie's Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust.  Not only did I take solace in his song "Rock and Roll Suicide" -- I had the album  on vinyl and I felt so cool just sitting in my room, doing my homework before dinner or laying in bed at night, just listening to that record.  I felt like a worthwhile rebel in some movie like  Pump up the Volume, while most of the rest of the time, I just felt like some gawky girl who always smelled like period blood.  Bowie always made me feel cool, and I always took solace in his music.

This is a Budweiser can in the rafters in my garage

This Oly and the mayonnaise jar lids were in the garage in the house where I lived in 1999-2000
(this was also in that same garage)
